Note: All visitors MUST bring a government-issued photo ID to enter the building. You will need to go through a metal detector and any personal belongings will be screened by NIH Security.
Note: Effective immediately all foreign visitors attending meetings or conferences on NIH main campus and at NCI Shady Grove must undergo pre-clearance prior to the meeting. Visitors from North Korea, Iran, Sudan and Libya require 10 days pre-clearance. Other visitors with a non-US issued Identification need 24 hours pre-clearance. If you fit in any of these categories please email Nonye Harvey at NCICohortConsortium@mail.nih.gov as soon as possible.
Entry: At entry to the lobby of NCI Shady Grove, you will need to sign in at the Visitors Desk with a valid, government-issued photo ID. You will need to go through a metal detector and any personal belongings will be screened by NIH Security. We ask that you please allow about 15 minutes to go through the entry/security/registration procedures. Our registration desk, where you will pick up your meeting badge, is just past security in front of you. There will be signs directing you to the meeting rooms. One of our local organizers will also be at the guard station to greet and escort you to the meeting room. After your initial entry, you will be able to re-enter the building expeditiously with your photo ID/passport and the meeting badge.
For employees with PIV cards from other U.S. Government departments (e.g. HHS, DHS, DOE, DOD, etc.) there is a kiosk located behind the visitors’ sign-in desk. Insert your PIV card, type in your PIV card-PIN code, and your PIV card will be granted a one-day access to the building. For the remainder of the day, you will be able to enter through the turnstiles without scanning of bags etc.
Shuttle from Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center: A complimentary shuttle service is available from Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center to NCI on a first come, first serve basis. On Monday, November 18, the shuttle will depart from the hotel to NCI Shady Grove at 10:00 a.m. and leave from NCI at 6:15 p.m. to return to the hotel. On Tuesday, November 19, the shuttle will depart from the hotel to NCI Shady Grove at 7:30 a.m. and leave from NCI at 5:30 p.m. to return to the hotel. On Wednesday, November 20, the shuttle will depart from the hotel to NCI Shady Grove at 7:30 a.m. with no afternoon return.

There is ample free parking on site, in the parking garage. From Medical Center Drive, turn onto Blackwell Road and make a right turn into the NCI Employee parking garage. No permit is needed for general parking, but be careful not to park in the low-emission parking spaces (even if you have such a car) as those require special permits.

Metro: An NCI shuttle runs between NCI Shady Grove and the Shady Grove Metro station every 15 minutes. Please let us know at least 5 days before arrival if you plan to arrive by Metro so we can obtain a shuttle permit for you.
